Out of these, Malavikagnimitra and Abhijnanasakuntalam were the most celebrated dramas.<br /> <br />4 Among the epic poems of Kalidas, the most appreciated are the Ritusamhara, Meghaduta, Kumarsambhava, and Raghuvamsa.<br /> <br />5 In modern times, Kalidas’s work gained respect all around the world and influenced many global artists.<br /> <br />6 Especially, Abhijnanasakuntalam created a sensation among the Europeans when it was translated into English by Sir William Jones.<br /> <br />7 His work has been translated in different international languages including; German, French, Danish, Italian and so on.<br /> <br />8 His plays and poetry were primarily based on the scriptures and his plays are still enacted in Indian theatres.<br /> <br />9 Mahakavi Kalidasa also had great influence on many patron writers of India like Rabindranath Tagore.
